I decided to write here on English area of i-doit forum for a while as it seems
a bit dead.

Now as I come to think of it, I find from time to time some missing points and
new ideas how to make i-doit even better, and I will put this periodically free
brainstorm here on forum for all to read and for i-doit developers to take note.

Thanks to possibility to modify posts at any later time, I will do my best to
contribute the list of features from time to time from this moment on.

1) More modularity means more possibilities
Making it possible furthering i-doit to a certain extent and to make i-doit fit nearly
any particular need, it has to be modular and offering end users possibilities to
create desired categories, subcategories and even new objects. Somebody was
asking on the forums while back how to create some particular categories to make
i-doit fit into their particular industry area of interest. To my best knowledge, most of the
categories in i-doit are rather tightly "hardcoded" into the system, and changing them and
their relations can be a little tricky task to accomplish.

For many IT-businesses there exist specific room(s) in the office, other than machine filled
server rooms, like small libraries filled with technical literature, magazines and
manuals.

So far I haven't worked for any single company not having such a library
department in their office, so even when I come to think of it rather single
mindedly, I find it rather important source of information next to Internet
itself.

Our books are marked with inventory tags and stamped with a company
information. So far there's no chance to implement objects like these invaluable
technical reference books into i-doit system.

2) Inventory of items and their value
Regardless whether it's a piece of hardware or a matter of a software license, they all have
a certain value on that specific date of purchase when something was bought, and even
years later when nobody's missing that once mighty piece of hardware which now is retired
and put to rest and collect dust somewhere in the warehouse, there still exist a specific calculatory
market value of any single piece of goods, which is of interest for people in charge of accounting.

For companies having more than one department, someone from executives will definitely raise quite
soon an interest and enquiry for having such information to be seen while navigating through i-doit
database and watching company's assets flow, without any value attached to them…

Therefore it's nearly mandatory being able - while contributing new data into i-doit database - to enter
such details as price in addition to date of purchase entry, etc.

It could be possible to evaluate overall value of assets in specific rooms, regardless what's the objective
of that particular room, or even single server enclosures filled with various different hardware.

developers and users to take note and discuss about the ideas.
