Preload output makes PHP throwing "Can't send header information" error

I'm running into trouble with IdoIt 1.48 Open.
There is a file:
isys_module_templates.class.phpOn creating instances of a template sometimes the PHP script crashes with a critical error.
This is caused by lines 548ff.
I was able to bypass the problem by commenting the concerning if-statement out. I suppose this part of the method is called before header information has been sent completely
