Couple of questions
-
Have just got up and running and other than a few niggles it's a good product that I think we will start to use in anger.
Couple of questions,
1. can I get a quote for support and how reactive is that support?
2. can I import my CI's from a CSV?
3. Is there a database schema that I can use for current reporting?
4. What sort of features are available in the reporting module, my German is very poor?
5. What sort of impact analysis can I get out if the product, presuming I have populated my dependencies?
6. How can I link the contents to a custom change management system, or is this product capable of that function (Haven't come to terms with the workflow piece yet)?Cheers

Hi Chris,
welcome to i-doit. Concerning your questions:
1. can I get a quote for support and how reactive is that support?
Sure you can. But it shouldn't happen here. Contact me under jwinkler@i-doit.org.2. can I import my CI's from a CSV?
The Import Manager contains some generic rules for CSV, but it does not cover all possible fields. But we are able to provide you a fitting import filter when you give us the source header of your CSV.3. Is there a database schema that I can use for current reporting?
The documentation of our DB model is still pending. I think it will be published after the 1.0 release (what is expected for mid 2010).4. What sort of features are available in the reporting module, my German is very poor?
Three ways to create reports: Use our online repository to fetch prepared reports (updated regulary by ideas from the community). Or you use the integrated query builder, a "mouse based" editor to click you through. Third method is our command-line tool to build manual sql statements. Clarified?5. What sort of impact analysis can I get out if the product, presuming I have populated my dependencies?
Actually: Depends on your reports ;-). Dependencies are primary used for the Nagios export. But in future versions there will a simulation model ("what happens if…") and functions to get a visual representation of your data.6. How can I link the contents to a custom change management system, or is this product capable of that function (Haven't come to terms with the workflow piece yet)?
Change Management is definitely on focus, but the actual implementation of Workflows does and will not provide this function. Actually we are looking for a good Open Source Workflow solution to integrate it with i-doit. With this more generic way we can not only provide a solution for Change Management, but also for Release Management, general Tasks and Checklists.Hope, we could clarify your view.
Regards,
Joachim
