Yesterday, my manager came to me and asked me to keep track of all our devices and services. So that we could manage them properly and not forget when, for example, we run out of the web domain, and so that there was one system with the master data about our IT.
I opened up Google Doc and got to work. I feel like my ass is already burning and the work is not done at all yet. Lots of questions come up, like statuses, documents, dependencies, descriptions, etc. A colleague said it's CMDB. This is the first time I've heard this ugly acronym.
What is it even called in today's world? The CMDB query only searches for scary enterprise systems.
