fping funktioniert nicht

Hallo zusammen,
haben auf dem CentOS Server, auf dem i-doit installiert ist, fping installiert um es im IP-Adressmanagement verwenden zu können. In den Settings ist fping hinterlegt. Auf der Console funktioniert fping - über den Button im IP-Adressmanagement allerdings nicht. Es erscheint zwar die Meldung, dass der Ping erfolgreich ausgeführt wurde, der Host an sich bekommt aber ein rotes X - obwohl an und eigentlich pingbar.
An welchen Stellen könnte es noch haken?

ist sichergestellt das der apache Benutzer ebenfalls fping ausführen darf? Für gewöhnlich ist das ein Berechtigungsproblem auf der Maschine
