I-doit v0.9.9.7 - Pages in German when logged in as English user

When I try to use i-doit I am finding a number of pages that are still in German even though I am logged in as an English user.

For example -
The 'Object Browser' is used from a number of screens but it is in German
In 'Extras->Templates' There is a number of occurrences of German
In 'Extras->Reports->Online Reports' all reports shown are in German

For those who are looking for a something that matches your website description i.e. multilingual they will be disappointed by the number of instances where this happens.

I've tried that in our newest version and could not find them anymore. And I don't think that people are disappointed because of one or two german words in such a big system.

I've been testdriving the system for a while now, and I must say that I strongly disagree with what you're saying here. I'm using the English version, and there are German texts ALL OVER the system. We are not talking about one or two words like you said, but seriously a lot of sections that are completely not translated at all. And in many cases it involves some quite crucial functions (like buttons to remove information).

I do understand German (on a basic level) myself. But I've also let some of our network admins (who don't understand a word of German) and they actually got stuck quite a few times.

You really should put some effort into making a complete translation of the whole system. A multi-language system should use templates with a language file for each phrase. With that, it really shouldn't be hard to implement a complete translation.

I can also add: I've also tested the pro version and I saw the same thing in there. I was considering to buy the pro version, but when I saw the poor translation, I've decided not to buy it for now.

I am sorry that you disagree with my statement. I have checked if I can still find your mentioned "complete sections" that are not translated, but was not able to. The buttons and functions you told us about in your first post are already translated in our newest version.

In that case, the name and the description are "hard coded" and not multilingual.

If you use our pro version and find some german texts, we will, of course, change that as fast as possible. I-doit works with language constants which you can find in your i-doit root under "src/lang/en.inc.php". If you find a german word there, you can replace it with whatever you want. In the pro version you can use the file de_custom.example.inc.php to overwrite our translations and still being updatable without losing translations.

Even in the demo there were many German phrases. I tested it for like an hour and it was in many places. Currently I don't have the time to look that all up, but just some quick examples:

"Fahrzeuge" in the top menu
"Seite 1 of 4 pages"
"IT-grundschutz" in the "Other" section
"Stadt (selbstdef. Objekttyp)" in the "Infrastructure" section

Now, all of these are not very crucial things, but these are just a sample of something I found within like 1 minute. There are LOTS of other examples (I just don't have the time to point them all out).

I do agree that in the Pro version the translations are a lot better than in the Open version. In the Open version there are that many parts which aren't translated, that one of my American admins wasn't able to properly work with it. Can you tell me whether you have any plans to release a new Open version that's based on the current Pro version (minus the specific Pro features)? That would be nice..

thanks for the four examples - but only one is a real "bug" (Seite 1 of 4 pages). The others are defined by german users ("Fahrzeuge", "Stadt") or names ("IT-grundschutz"). We're always trying to improve our translations and have been switching to englisch as default language in many areas (exception handling, error messages, …).
